About
Past Sweeney Lake East site visitors will find Sweeney Lake West with a small 3 unit campsite and small, gravel boat launch. Access road is narrow and can have many fallen trees due to dead pine stand. This site is remote, quiet and has fantastic lake/mountain views (Sweeney and Sibola Peaks, Mt. Carl Borden). Just down the road is Sweeney Lake East which provides room for 2 units and a boat launch. The scenic lake is great for boating, swimming, wildlife viewing or fishing. There are several species of fish in the lake including rainbow trout and bull trout. There are also several hiking trails nearby, check out Houston Hikers website for ideas: https://houstonhikers.ca/. Due to logging traffic on roads, a VHF radio with Resource Road channels is recommended for travel here.
Please be sure to purchase a fishing licence and consult the BC Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis for limits, special regulations and closures: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/sports-recreation-arts-and-culture/outdoor-recreation/fishing-and-hunting/freshwater-fishing/region_6_skeena.pdf
