RST appreciates the public wanting to visit the site and lake; however, it is important to make you aware of the issues from increased demand and public use. There continues to be overcrowding and misuse, leading to environmental challenges. Access is via a single lane unpaved unmaintained resource road. Watch for industrial traffic. There is limited space for day use parking. The recreation site is rustic with 2 pit toilets. There are only 12 campsites available on a first come - first serve basis. There is no running water or electricity. We have many amazing sites in the Kamloops area and elsewhere in the province. Perhaps you would be interested in searching for another recreation site that is not overrun with people who do not follow proper outdoor etiquette To prevent environmental damage from improper boat launching, lock blocks have been installed to reinforce car-top boat launching access only. There is a recommended engine power restriction of 7.5 kw (10 HP) on Johnson Lake. Please use the site responsibly. As per the Forest Recreation Regulations;Camping is limited to a maximum of 14 consecutive days per visit.No reserving or holding of campsites, no unoccupied trailers, tents, chairs, vehicles may save a site or reserve it for others. All sites are first come, first serve.Camping is only permitted in the designated camping spots.All dogs must be on a leash at all times (for all Kamloops Recreation Sites). Driving Directions

<BR><BR>Access to Johnson Lake is from Agate Bay Road, 5km South of Barriere. Follow Agate Bay Road for 22km before turning left onto Minnova FSR. Once on Minnova FSR, travel for 19km on the single lane unpaved unmaintained resource road. Please note that the road has many potholes and a high-clearance 4X4 vehicle is recommended.
