The Eagle Lake West recreation site is located in an open meadow adjacent to Eagle Lake, a relatively shallow alkaline lake. There are also a couple of campsites up on a hill at the north side of the recreation site.
INDIGENOUS TERRITORY: Eagle Lake is situated within the traditional and unceded territory of the Tsilhqot'in (pronounced "sil-ko-teen") Nation.
The Tsilhqot'in name for this area is "Lhuy Nachasgwen Gunlin" (pronounced "Lhoo-ee Nachas-gwen Goo-leen"), meaning "where there are many small fish" and referring not only to this lake but also the wider surrounding area. Source: Tsilhqot'in National Government.
