On this site on the shore of the Little Red Deer River, an English settler named Mr. Crichley had a craftsman build him a large log home. The logs were painted red, thus Red Lodge became the name of his ranch and later, the name of a small community and the provincial park.

Author Campground Review
Early June saw us enjoy this campground yet again. As always it’s a great camping experience. Everything is clean and makes for a great weekend. Things I noticed this weekend. Some of the sites don’t get as much sun as others, if you can get a site along the river in C loop, you’ll enjoy the evening sun. Loops D and E seem to get a fair bit of traffic noise. I will attempt to stay in loops farther away next time. The park is a huge hit and there never seemed to be any lack of kids playing there the entire weekend. The power loop always seems to be full, you can’t reserve in this loop and so I wonder when you have to show up to get a spot there? Also, the sani-dump is always busy on Sunday and I saw a line up of 6 units waiting to dump. But as always, this is a family favorite, I can’t imagine not having a great time camping here.
