Author Campground Review

This is a great family get-away. There are so many activities that you won't have any trouble keeping the kids busy. With all the other families there the kids will have no trouble finding others to play with. If you aren't a family with kids this might not be the spot for you. Also, the facilities do seem a bit dated. Everything is functional, but don't expect nice and new anything.

  1. We stopped by to check this place out as I had heard so many mixed reviews (mostly negative). We had to pay the day use rate $3 per adult and $2 for kids to even go in the site. Nothing is free in the resort – to take the little train ride is $2 a kid, the bike carts are $3 to $7 per half hour, the hay ride is $3 a person, etc. The campground is very big with a majority of the spots out in a pasture with no trees … I would be seriously upset to have to camp in a field! The petting zoo…. 2 pigs, 3 chickens, a goat, and 3 dirty sheep in a portable enclosed rusty enclosure (its not that hard to wash and groom a sheep). The playgrounds are big and the kids enjoyed them but really…with the amount of money this place makes you would think they could afford a few cans of paint every year — the playground has not been painted in YEARS and the basket ball hoop and horseshoe pits are ancient and run down. Whoever made the playgrounds also thinks that old tractor tires are playground equipment = cheap! Please consider this before you go.

  2. Poor excuse for a campground, bring cash, these clowns have to make 12 months worth of profit in 3. The place is run down and disgustingly dirty, beach is a mess most of the time. The attendant stood next to me on my way out on my last day and berated me for moving too slow as I drained my black water while the lineup that they created stretched long into the campground. This was of course for $40 per night. Terrible cancellation policy. Unprofessional. My family and I have a much nicer time camping in Drumheller. Farewell Ol’ Macdonalds Resort…. I won’t miss you a bit!

  3. Worst camping trip of my life and I LOVE to camp. I definitely do not recommend this campground.

  4. Great campground for kids, super friendly staff. A bit run down but it looks as if they are starting to make the nessesary repairs! All in a ll a great place to camp! Loved it!

  5. Went to Ol’Macdonlds for a week of camping. Once we got there, found water hook-up ran constantly. Site was not clean or raked. The campground lacks shower sites. Once went into washrooms, only to find that 2 of the 4 spaces plugged. Staff standing around, not willing to fix the problem. In week of camping not once was garbage collected, so at the end of our stay they were full, full. Petting zoo, was dirty and children not allowed inside to pet animals. Rental equipment very costly. Rented a cart for 30mins. Broke in 15mins later, no refund. Now saying all this, kids had a blast, free run of the campground. My kids did not want to leave. They just have to upgrade the dated just about everything. Also WIFI was terrible.

  6. This is the best and the only family campground that I will take my family They have everything you could ask for so many activities and all under 4 dollars. Very cheap prices. The staff is so friendly and try very hard to please everyone. HIGHLY RECOMMEND OL MACDONALDS RESORT
